Lost Motion

2023

Illustration & Motion

A short university project inspired by a visit from an Indigenous elder, whose words centered around connection to land, memory, and the passage of time. The piece explores these themes through a series of expressive digital illustrations.

Created using Procreate and Photoshop, the project blends motion and stillness to reflect on what is lost and what can still be remembered through visual storytelling.

The Story

Project goals: Following a series of lectures from an Indigenous Elder, we were tasked with selecting a meaningful quote and creating a short motion piece that visually interpreted and enhanced its message. The goal was to explore how motion and illustration could add emotional and cultural depth to spoken words.

Role: Developed all illustrated assets in Procreate, prepared them for animation in After Effects, and created the final motion piece with integrated sound design to support the tone and narrative of the quote.

Metrics: The final piece was well-received by both my professor and peers, with positive feedback highlighting its emotive style and thoughtful visual interpretation.
