Atmos Editorial Illustration
2024
Editorial Illustration & animation
This was a final-year university case study focused on editorial illustration and animation. The brief was to visually interpret a given article through a set of custom illustrations, incorporating light motion to enhance storytelling.
The deliverables included a hero image, spot illustrations, an illustrated pull quote, and an author portrait. The article I worked with explored the concept of Solarpunk, a hopeful, eco-futuristic movement that imagines sustainable communities and green technologies as part of everyday life.
The Story
Project goals: The aim of this project was to explore how illustration could enhance engagement on Atmos, an online magazine that currently relies heavily on photography. By introducing illustrated elements, the goal was to test how visual storytelling could offer a fresh, compelling layer to the platform’s content.
Role: Created a full suite of editorial illustrations including a hero image, three spot illustrations, an illustrated pull quote, and an author portrait, each tailored to reflect the tone and themes of the assigned article.
Metrics: The project received positive feedback from both peers and faculty, particularly for its cohesive visual style, the unique animation method and imaginative interpretation of the article’s themes.
